UK-based manufacturing software startup CloudNC announced in September 2026 a $20 million Series B extension round, bringing its total funding to $128 million. The round was led by Nimble Ventures, with participation from Calculus Venture Capital, Entrepreneur First, and LM Capital, the venture arm of Lockheed Martin.
Founded in 2015 by CEO Theo Saville and Chief Science Officer Chris Emery, CloudNC makes CAM Assist, an AI-powered software that plugs into established computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) platforms such as Autodesk Fusion and Mastercam. The tool automates the initial planning stage of CNC machining — selecting tools, approach directions, and cutting parameters, then drafting the machine code — before handing results to a human programmer to review and approve.
“Traditional CAM systems are powerful, but in most workflows, they are still tools that allow programmers to manually specify how a part should be machined,” Saville told TechCrunch. He described CAM Assist as “an expert assistant sitting alongside the programmer, automating much of the first-pass thinking and repetitive setup so the human can review, improve, and approve the approach.”
More than 1,000 machine shops worldwide currently use CAM Assist, with 80% of the company’s customer base located in the United States. CloudNC employs a team of 80 people, and scaling adoption is the company’s primary near-term goal.
The new capital will also support the launch of Quote Agent, a separate product set to release next month that helps manufacturers estimate the cost and risk of new projects so they can accept or reject work more quickly. Saville linked the product’s relevance to reshoring trends in the U.S. and a broader shortage of skilled manufacturing workers.
“Machine shops need to quote faster, program faster, and deliver more with the people and machines they already have,” Saville said. The B extension comes roughly four years after CloudNC’s last major fundraising round.
