AI Startup Town Reaches Unicorn Status Four Months After Public Launch
Town reached unicorn status with a $108 million Series B just four months after its public launch, following reports of millions in annual recurring revenue within weeks. Founded by former Plaid CTO Jean-Denis Greze, it has raised at least $160 million.
Town, a San Francisco-based AI assistant startup, has reached a unicorn valuation after closing a $108 million Series B funding round, the company announced Monday, October 19, 2026. The round was co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures, with participation from Andreessen Horowitz, Serena Ventures, and First Round Capital.
The company launched publicly just four months ago and reported reaching millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue within weeks of going live. Town has now raised at least $160 million in total, following a $55 million Series A round announced in June 2026.
Town was founded by Jean-Denis Greze, former CTO of Plaid. The company targets businesses, providing each employee with an AI assistant called a Townie that connects to tools such as email, calendars, and other core work systems. Townies can communicate with one another and share approved information across a company, and can also interact with customers and external parties.
Alongside the funding announcement, Town unveiled a shared workflow feature that automatically updates employees’ Townies with new business information, removing the need for each worker to manually update their own assistant.
Town operates in a crowded market, with the company itself acknowledging it is one of many AI assistant products currently available for businesses. The speed at which it reached unicorn status — less than half a year after its public launch — may suggest strong early demand for enterprise-focused AI assistant tools, though the company’s long-term trajectory remains to be seen.
