Anthropic Adds Docs and Slides to Claude, Merges Chat Features Into Single Interface
Docs and Slides are launching in beta inside Claude chats, supporting creation, editing, sharing, and real-time collaboration, with mobile-friendly share links. Anthropic’s “one Claude” also merges regular chat and Cowork, bringing Artifacts and Design to every conversation.
Anthropic launched two new productivity tools for its Claude AI platform in September 2026: Docs and Slides. The features allow users to create, edit, and share documents and presentations directly within Claude chats, without leaving the platform.
Alongside the new tools, Anthropic is merging its regular chat and Cowork modes into a unified experience it calls “one Claude.” The change means Claude’s full range of productivity capabilities — including Artifacts and Claude Design — will be accessible from any conversation. According to Anthropic, Claude “can now figure out what a task needs, so what Cowork and Design can do is available from any conversation, with the context, skills, and connectors you already have.”
Claude Docs functions similarly to Google Docs: documents start as private but can be shared with other editors for real-time collaboration. Collaborators, including Claude itself, can leave comments within documents. Anthropic says anything created with Claude Design, Slides, or Docs is available at a single shareable link that works on mobile. Both Docs and Slides are launching in beta.
The update appears aimed at narrowing the gap between Claude and Google’s AI-integrated productivity suite. Earlier this year, Google expanded Gemini’s role across Docs, Sheets, and Slides with features including an in-document chat window, full document generation, and slide creation. Anthropic’s models are generally regarded as more capable than Google’s, but Google has held an advantage through its native integration with productivity tools. The addition of Docs and Slides to Claude may give users fewer reasons to switch to other platforms mid-workflow.
The “one Claude” interface is rolling out first to Pro and Max subscribers on web, desktop, and mobile over the coming weeks, with Team and Free users gaining access later. Anthropic says no action is required to receive the update, and users can continue using Claude chat as before.
