Anthropic launches Claude Duet, an AI agent for professionals and small business owners

Claude Duet combines Claude Opus 5.5, memory, connected apps and a browser-enabled virtual machine to schedule meetings, build dashboards and create forecasts. It’s a US-only research preview for Pro and Max subscribers, with approval required for high-impact actions.

Anthropic announced Claude Duet in October 2026, a new AI agent aimed at professionals and small business owners. The product enters a market alongside existing agents from Meta (Muse) and OpenAI (Dots), and is currently available as a “research preview” to users on a waitlist.

Claude Duet is accessible as a standalone app on iOS and Android, as well as through Claude on the web. Access is limited to Pro or Max subscribers in the US.

The agent is built on Claude Opus 5.5 and draws on memory, skills, and connected apps from Claude. It also has access to a virtual machine with a browser for completing tasks. Each morning, it sends users a brief summary of important items across their connected apps, and throughout the day it monitors those apps and sends alerts only when something requires attention.

Users can assign Claude Duet a range of tasks, from scheduling meetings to building dashboards, creating financial or sales forecasts, prototyping, and building web apps. Before taking significant actions — such as sending a payment or deleting content — the agent messages the user for approval.

Given that Duet handles sensitive information, Anthropic says it has built in a “dedicated classifier and safety system prompt” designed to block sharing of high-sensitivity data such as credit card numbers.

Anthropic acknowledges that Claude Duet is an “early version” with limitations. The company notes it “still might misread a thread or miscalibrate what’s urgent” and is not yet as capable with personal tasks like booking tickets.

Interested users can join a waitlist through the Claude app or website, though a Pro or Max subscription is required to access the agent once admitted.
