Apple Adds AI Assistant to Pages, Keynote, and Numbers
The beta assistant combines Apple and OpenAI models to create and refine Keynote slides, draft Pages content, and analyze Numbers data. It requires iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27, with MCP support enabling third-party AI agents on macOS.
Apple announced in 2026 that it is bringing an AI assistant to its core productivity apps — Pages, Keynote, and Numbers — with the rollout beginning in beta for devices compatible with Apple Intelligence.
The assistant is built on AI models from both Apple and OpenAI. In Keynote, it can understand a document’s context to design, animate, and refine slides. In Pages, it can draft, restructure, and tweak written content. In Numbers, it can calculate, visualize, and organize data, as well as suggest chart types and build custom tables.
The feature works on devices running iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 or later. All three apps now also support the Model Context Protocol on macOS 27 or later, allowing third-party AI agents to connect directly to the apps.
Apple is also updating several of its creative applications. Pixelmator Pro is gaining a Generate Fill feature that lets users edit part of an image by describing the changes they want. Apple says the tool automatically matches the lighting, perspective, and texture of the surrounding area so edits blend in.
Logic Pro for Mac and iPad is receiving a Liquid Glass redesign alongside an AI assistant capable of setting up a vocal track from a single prompt and editing existing projects. Logic Pro’s Mac version is also getting a redesigned Browser that uses on-device AI to analyze, classify, and tag sounds automatically.
Final Cut Pro is being updated to bring templates, graphics, titles, and transitions into the app through MotionVFX, along with a built-in Content Hub offering stock videos, photos, and backgrounds. These updates to Apple’s Creator’s Studio will be available to existing subscribers at no additional cost in November.
The additions suggest Apple is moving to integrate AI assistance more deeply across its productivity and creative software ecosystem, while also opening those apps to external AI agents through standard protocols.
