Apple Adds ‘Made for iPhone Duo’ Badge to App Store for Its New Foldable Device

Apple’s $1,999 iPhone Duo launches Friday with a new App Store badge for apps supporting its inner and outer screens. Netflix, Word, Outlook and Zoom are optimized, though Instagram reportedly still has bugs.

Apple is introducing a new “Made for iPhone Duo” badge in the App Store to identify apps optimized for its upcoming foldable iPhone, with the device and its accompanying editorial app collections set to launch on Friday, October 2026.

The badge will appear on apps and games designed to take advantage of the iPhone Duo’s inner and outer screens. Apple has not released an image of the badge itself, but has highlighted how several major apps are adapting their interfaces for the device’s additional screen real estate.

Netflix will display shows and movies across the full inner display while showing short-form clips on the outer screen. Amazon’s Prime Video will support a partially folded mode, placing video content on the top half and cast details on the bottom. Microsoft Word will position its formatting tools alongside a document, and Outlook will display an inbox next to a full email — what Apple describes as a “desktop-class” experience. Zoom will be able to show a video conference alongside shared content on the inner screen.

Other apps confirmed as optimized for the Duo include Paramount Plus, NYT Cooking, Yelp, Lyft, and United Airlines. However, The Verge’s Nilay Patel noted during testing that some apps listed as optimized — including Instagram — still have bugs.

Apple says additional app updates will roll out throughout the year following the Friday launch. The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 and will be available in limited quantities on a walk-in basis at launch.

The badge system may help consumers quickly identify which apps are ready to take full advantage of the Duo’s dual-screen design, though the quality of that optimization could vary given the early bugs already reported in some supported apps.
