Fal Raises $1.3 Billion at $16 Billion Valuation as AI Inference Demand Grows
Fal surpassed $800 million in annualized revenue as demand for AI inference surged, particularly among open-source model users. Nvidia, Sound Ventures and T. Rowe Price participated in its Series F, bringing combined Series E and F funding to $1.65 billion.
Fal, a San Francisco-based startup that hosts and runs AI video, image, and audio models, has raised $1.3 billion in a Series F funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners, valuing the company at $16 billion. The deal, reported by Bloomberg and announced in November 2026, doubles Fal’s previous $8 billion valuation set in April of the same year.
Nvidia, Sound Ventures, and T. Rowe Price also participated in the Series F round. Fal disclosed the raise alongside its earlier Series E, noting that a combined $1.65 billion was raised across both rounds, with Sequoia leading the Series E.
The funding comes as demand for AI inference services — the process of running an already-trained AI model to generate outputs — has surged, particularly among customers relying on open-source models. Fal surpassed $800 million in annualized revenue earlier this year, according to Bloomberg.
Fal was co-founded in 2021 by Burkay Gur, a former machine learning leader at Coinbase and engineer at Oracle, and Gorkem Yurtseven, who previously worked as a developer at Amazon.
The company operates in a competitive and fast-growing segment. Other inference providers, including Baseten, Fireworks AI, and Modal, have also been raising large rounds at higher valuations. However, gross margins across the inference sector remain thin due to the high cost of buying or leasing compute, according to people familiar with these companies’ financials. Fal’s latest raise suggests strong investor confidence in the sector’s growth potential, though the margin challenge may continue to weigh on profitability across the industry.
