Firefox Adds AI Form Filling and Webpage Monitoring to Smart Window
Mozilla’s beta rollout lets Smart Window pull data from open tabs into forms, with source pages shared with Google’s Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite. Its /watch tool checks pages daily or weekly while Firefox is open, pausing after 60 days without changes and stopping after 90.
Mozilla announced in October 2026 two new features for Smart Window, Firefox’s AI-powered browsing tool: the ability to fill out online forms using information from open tabs, and a webpage monitoring tool that alerts users to specific changes over time.
The form-filling feature activates when a user clicks into a form with at least four text fields, surfacing a “Fill from sources” option. Firefox identifies which open tabs it will draw from, and users can select or deselect those sources before the browser generates text suggestions. Mozilla cites job applications as one use case — Smart Window could pull work history from an open LinkedIn page or online portfolio and paste it into the relevant fields. The feature currently supports text fields, with support for dropdown menus and PDFs in development. Mozilla notes that data from source pages is shared with Google’s Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite, the AI model powering the suggestions.
The second addition is a webpage watching tool. Users can activate it by typing “/watch” in the Smart Window chat, describing what they want to track — such as price drops or new job listings — and adding the relevant pages. Firefox can then check those pages daily or weekly, but only while the browser is open. Alerts are delivered through the Tasks button on the toolbar or via desktop notifications if enabled. If no change is detected after 60 days, monitoring pauses; it stops entirely after 90 days.
Both features are currently rolling out in beta on desktop for users in the United States and Canada, with availability in additional countries expected in the coming months.
