Google Releases Offline AI Note-Taking App for Apple Silicon Macs

Google’s experimental Foresight transcribes and summarizes meetings entirely on-device, so audio, files, and notes never leave the computer. Free on macOS since October 2026, it uses EmbeddingGemma 2 and is optimized for Apple Silicon Macs.

Google has released an experimental note-taking app capable of transcribing meetings and audio files entirely offline. The app, called Google AI Edge Foresight, became available in October 2026 and is free to use on macOS.

Foresight runs on Apple Silicon Macs using Google’s on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model. Because processing happens locally, Google says users’ files, meeting audio, and notes “never leave your computer.” The app is currently only optimized for Macs with Apple Silicon chips.

Like other AI note-taking apps such as Granola and Wispr Flow, Foresight summarizes meetings while also providing space for users to take their own notes. Google says users can jot down shorthand bullet points during a meeting, and the app will expand them into “polished notes” based on the meeting transcript.

The app also includes a built-in assistant that allows users to ask questions about what they heard in a meeting. Users can connect local files to the app, which Foresight can then reference when answering questions.

The app’s offline capability may appeal to users concerned about the privacy implications of cloud-based transcription services, since no audio or data is sent to external servers. Foresight’s on-device approach sets it apart within a growing field of AI note-taking tools, though its current optimization is limited to Apple Silicon hardware.
