Meta Launches AI Pet Journal App Waddle World in the Philippines
Available since October 2026 only to adults in the Philippines, Meta’s free app turns voice chats with a pixel pet into a daily journal, with AI-generated doodles illustrating conversations. It has no streaks, scores, or competitive pressure.
Meta quietly launched a mobile app called Waddle World in October 2026 — a “tamagotchi-style” pet experience that doubles as a daily journal. The app is currently available only to adults in the Philippines and is listed as free on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Despite being described in its store listings as a “16-bit pet care game,” Meta’s own description clarifies it is “a daily journal disguised as a pet.” Users hatch a virtual pixel pet, visit it regularly, and are encouraged to talk — rather than type — with their companion. The pet listens, chats back, and generates doodles to illustrate conversations. The app also includes casual activities such as stacking groceries and word games, with no streaks, scores, or competitive pressure built in.
The app was spotted by social media consultant Matt Navarra. Its Play Store listing reads: “Waddle World is a cozy 16-bit world where your pixel pet lives… No pressure, no streaks to protect, no scores to chase — just a warm little escape in the cracks of our day.”
Waddle World’s launch comes as Meta is also promoting a mascot and small Charm gadgets tied to its Muse AI agent. Separately, Navarra noted that Meta launched another app called Style Sketch, an AI fashion tool reportedly available in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, though The Verge was unable to independently verify those geographic restrictions.
It is not yet clear whether Meta plans to expand Waddle World or Style Sketch to the United States or other markets. Meta had not responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.
