Meta’s personal AI agent app Muse has surpassed 3.4 million downloads since its September 8, 2026 launch, according to market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, with growth accelerating following the company’s annual Meta Connect developer conference held this week.

Muse topped the U.S. App Store on September 18 and the Google Play Store on September 19, holding the top position on both platforms since. Daily active users climbed 27% on the Wednesday after Meta Connect wrapped, Sensor Tower reported. Estimates from other tracking firms vary: Apptopia puts total downloads at 4.3 million, while Appfigures estimates roughly 2.3 million installs as of Thursday. The app is currently available only in the U.S. and Canada.

At Meta Connect, the company announced a range of upcoming features for Muse, including video chat with the Muse avatar, Mac computer-use support, a dedicated email address, additional partners and connectors, and planned smart glasses integrations.

Before the conference, Muse had already shown strong momentum. Sensor Tower recorded an estimated 2.8 million downloads in its first two weeks, with average day-over-day download growth of 55% between September 8 and September 17. For comparison, ChatGPT averaged 24% day-over-day download growth in its first 10 days after launch, while Claude and Grok saw download growth decline during their respective launches.

Meta began running house ads promoting Muse on September 9, one day after launch, and within 10 days Muse received the majority of house advertising promotions across Meta’s properties — ahead of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Meta has also advertised Muse on Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, and mobile ad networks. By September 22, Muse ranked among the top 10 brands by advertising spend, per Sensor Tower. However, ads accounted for only 6% of ad impressions from launch through September 19, suggesting the bulk of growth has been organic.

Meta’s Head of Threads, Connor Hayes, told Business Insider that Muse’s cross-promotion strategy differs from the approach used with Threads, focusing on showcasing specific AI capabilities tailored to individual users rather than matching content to interests.
