Napster Rebrands as AI Platform, Partners With Dubai School Network to Build Digital Teacher Clones
Napster will build teacher “digital twins” trained on instructors’ materials, courses, and papers for 24/7 student support at Gems Education schools in Dubai. Infinite Reality bought Napster for $207 million in 2025; its music service shut down in January 2026.
Napster, the file-sharing service that upended the music industry in the early 2000s, has signed a partnership with Gems Education in Dubai to develop AI agents and digital replicas of teachers for use in classrooms. The deal, announced in 2026, marks the latest turn in the company’s long journey away from its original identity.
Under the agreement, Napster will build proof-of-concept projects for Gems Education, including digitally cloned instructors, gamified learning tools, AI-assisted content creation, and classroom simulations. The first phase will be based at the Gems School of Research and Innovation, which will host the Gems Global Education AI Hub and the Gems Intelligence 360 platform.
The teacher “digital twins” will be trained on an individual instructor’s materials, courses, and papers, and will be available to students around the clock for questions and concept review. Teachers, in turn, will receive data on what students are asking and where they may need additional support.
Leading Napster’s Middle East and Africa operations is Samuel Huber, formerly founder and CEO of UK-based technology company Landvault, which was acquired by Infinite Reality in 2024. Infinite Reality, a Florida-based tech company, purchased Napster in 2025 for $207 million and pivoted it into an AI platform. Napster shut down its music-streaming service in January 2026.
Huber framed the company’s new direction as consistent with Napster’s original ethos. “Twenty-five years ago, it was about music and how music should be owned by people, not the gatekeepers,” he said. “And now this is the same fight, the same ethos, but it’s about data and intelligence.”
On privacy, Huber said student data will remain within the country and can be hosted on a company’s own servers where required. He also stated that Napster does not use user data to train its AI models.
