Nintendo Switch 2 Jailbroken Using AI and a SmileBASIC 4 Exploit

A software-only, tethered exploit dubbed “ns2jb” lets modder Sammy Hajhamid run a modified Mario Kart World with Cinnamoroll, Peter Griffin and other unofficial characters. Built with OpenAI’s Codex, it currently requires SmileBASIC 4 and a reboot-time launch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been jailbroken, with a modder demonstrating the console running a modified version of Mario Kart World that includes unofficial playable characters such as Cinnamoroll, the red Angry Bird, Peter Griffin, and Steve from Minecraft.

The jailbreak, dubbed “ns2jb,” was reported on October 22, 2026, and was developed by modder Sammy Hajhamid, who goes by the online handle “pepsipu.” Hajhamid used OpenAI’s Codex to help build the exploit.

The hack is a software-only, tethered jailbreak, meaning users must run it from a game each time the console is powered on. It currently requires the title SmileBASIC 4, a game that allows users to program and play their own games — though at least one other modder has claimed that SmileBASIC 4 is “not strictly needed.”

The jailbreak remains highly complex and is not accessible to most users. The broader impact is also still unclear, with members of the Switch 2 hacks subreddit actively debating its significance.

Still, the development could mark the start of a wider wave of exploits targeting the Switch 2, particularly as modders continue to explore AI-assisted tools to accelerate the process.
