Pinterest Launches AI Beauty Guides to Help Users Communicate Salon Looks
Pinterest’s Beauty Guides turn saved hair and nail Pins into salon-ready plans, translating looks into terms like “balayage” and “almond nails.” Tapping “Get the Guide” reveals timing, price ranges, and maintenance needs.
Pinterest unveiled a new AI-powered feature in October 2026 called Beauty Guides, which translates saved hair and nail inspiration Pins into actionable plans users can bring to salon appointments.
The feature uses Pinterest’s visual intelligence and generative AI technology, called Pinterest Intelligence, to convert saved images into stylist-friendly terminology that everyday users may not recognize — terms such as “balayage,” “root melt,” or “almond nails.”
Users can access a Beauty Guide by tapping a “Get the Guide” button within the app. The guide then provides specific details about what to request from a stylist, the estimated time each part of the process takes, a price range, and maintenance requirements — such as how often a style may need to be trimmed, toned, or touched up. At launch, the feature covers Pins related to hairstyle, color, nail shape, and nail finish.
Pinterest positioned the feature as a practical extension of an existing user behavior: bringing a photo to the salon as a reference. The addition of professional terminology and cost information may help users go into appointments better prepared. For example, the guides flag that techniques like balayage can run into the hundreds of dollars — information users may want before booking.
The feature slots AI into a familiar, everyday task rather than introducing an entirely new workflow, which could lower the barrier for users who are not yet accustomed to AI-assisted tools in consumer apps.
