Salesforce Acquires Defense AI Startup Rune for $375 Million
Rune’s battlefield logistics AI will join Salesforce’s Missionforce, expanding the defense unit beyond back-office planning. The $375 million deal follows Missionforce’s 80% year-over-year growth and a 10-year, $5.6 billion U.S. Army contract.
Salesforce has agreed to acquire Rune Technologies, an AI logistics startup serving the U.S. military, for $375 million in cash and stock, according to a report by Resilience Media published October 30, 2026.
Rune builds AI software that helps the U.S. military predict supply needs and manage logistics from the field. The acquisition will fold the startup into Missionforce, Salesforce’s business unit serving national security and defense agencies. By integrating Rune’s frontline logistics data, Missionforce aims to extend its capabilities beyond back-office administrative planning to support battlefield operations.
Missionforce, which launched last year, has grown 80% year over year. That growth has been driven in part by a new 10-year, $5.6 billion contract with the U.S. Army.
Founded in 2024, Rune raised a total of $30 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, and IQT, a CIA-backed non-profit venture firm formerly known as In-Q-Tel. The startup was last valued at $127 million following a Series A round led by Human Capital, according to PitchBook.
The Rune deal is one of several acquisitions Salesforce has made in 2026. The company also agreed to buy AI agent platform Fin, formerly known as Intercom, for $3.6 billion; acquired Qualified for $1.2 billion; and signed an agreement to buy Listen Labs after the startup walked away from a $125 million Series C term sheet at a $1.5 billion valuation.
