Sonos Rolls Out Presets Feature and Opens Waitlist for AI Voice Assistant

Sonos will open a U.S. waitlist for its 27voice AI assistant on November 6, with access beginning November 12. The November update also adds one-tap Presets for room-specific playback and volume, swipe-to-skip, and an iOS System Health tool.

Sonos is releasing a major app update in November 2026 that introduces a new Presets feature and early access to its AI voice assistant, called 27voice.

Presets allow users to configure music playback at a specific volume in a chosen room, with each preset appearing directly on the app’s homescreen for quick one-tap access. Additional features arriving in the same update include the ability to swipe on the “Now Playing” screen or mini player to skip tracks, a way to rearrange favorites, and an iOS-only System Health tool that helps users identify problems with their speaker setup.

US users can join the waitlist for the 27voice AI assistant starting November 6th, with access opening on November 12th. The assistant supports natural language commands, handling requests ranging from basic tasks — such as starting music, moving playback to another room, or grouping and ungrouping speakers — to more complex queries like “Play the album with a sardine tin on the cover” or “Who was the singer at the Super Bowl? Play their latest album on Hallway.”

These updates follow a difficult period for the company. Sonos has been working to recover from a widely criticized app redesign in 2024, which CEO Tom Conrad pledged to reverse. In September 2026, Sonos launched a revamped app operating system update — referred to as Sonos 27 — that introduced the ability to connect AI agents to the app. The company also plans to let users create up to 10 custom agents.

The Presets and 27voice rollout represents the next step in that recovery effort, aiming to restore user confidence by adding functionality and improving day-to-day usability for Sonos speaker owners.
