Square launches AI voice kiosk for customer ordering, priced at $1,999
Square’s 21.5-inch Kiosk lets customers ask questions and request order modifications by voice, with presence detection greeting them as they approach. Available in October 2026 for $1,999 plus $99 monthly, it requires a Plus or Premium subscription.
Square launched a new self-ordering kiosk in October 2026 that allows customers to place orders by speaking with an AI, in addition to using a touchscreen. The device is called the Square Kiosk.
The kiosk features a 21.5-inch touchscreen in a pill-shaped form factor and includes what Square describes as an “agentic, conversational voice layer” that “fully understands a seller’s menu and listens and responds in real time, enabling customers to order the way they’d naturally talk to staff.” Through the voice interface, customers can ask questions and request modifications or substitutions to their orders.
The device also includes presence detection, which allows it to greet customers as they approach. Payment can be made via a contactless reader or a card slot built into the unit.
The Square Kiosk is available now at $1,999 per unit, with eligibility limited to businesses holding a Square Plus or Premium subscription. An additional monthly software fee of $99 per device also applies.
The pricing structure — combining a hardware purchase with an ongoing subscription cost — means businesses will need to weigh total cost of ownership when considering the kiosk. The AI voice capability could reduce the need for staff to handle routine ordering interactions, though Square has not specified which underlying AI technology powers the feature.
