Apple brings iOS 27 to iPhones on September 14, 2026, led by Siri AI overhaul

Apple will release iOS 27 on Monday, September 14, 2026, bringing a redesigned AI-powered Siri and a range of other updates to compatible iPhones.

The headline addition is Siri AI, an overhauled version of Apple’s voice assistant that had been delayed. It will launch as a beta and will initially be available only on English-language devices. Apple says support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is planned for October.

Beyond Siri AI, iOS 27 introduces a Liquid Glass opacity slider, giving users the ability to adjust the interface between a clearer or more frosted appearance. Many of Apple’s built-in apps are also receiving new icon designs with subtle color changes.

Additional features include extra large widgets, an option to make the Lock Screen clock significantly smaller, and separate volume controls for ringtones, alarms, timers, alerts, and system sounds.

For iPhone users, the update may offer more granular control over how their device looks and sounds. The beta status of Siri AI at launch suggests the feature could see further refinements before a full release, and the English-only restriction at launch means non-English speakers will need to wait until October to access the assistant’s new capabilities.
